Cape Town, South Africa

One of the most naturally spectacular cities on earth — Cape Town combines a world-class business environment with breathtaking landscapes, a rich and layered cultural heritage, and a warm African hospitality that makes it a uniquely compelling training destination for professionals from across the continent and beyond.

WHY CAPE TOWN
Africa's most dynamic city
Cape Town is consistently ranked among the world's most liveable and most beautiful cities. Home to a highly developed financial services sector, world-class legal and professional infrastructure, and a growing technology and innovation ecosystem — the most sophisticated business environment on the African continent
Excellent connectivity
Cape Town International Airport (CPT) offers direct connections from Nairobi, Lagos, Accra, and Addis Ababa, with one-stop connections from Dubai, Riyadh, Doha, and London via major hub carriers.

Training in Cape Town brings a uniquely African context to professional development —particularly valuable for delegates from government, public sector, and development
finance organisations across the continent.
Excellent value
Cairo offers world-class training facilities, international hotels, and professional services at a significantly lower cost than European or GCC destinations — one of the most affordable major city training destinations in the portfolio.

CULTURE & ATTRACTIONS
Beyond the classroom
Cape Town offers an extraordinary range of experiences after training hours — from iconic natural wonders and world-class museums to vibrant cultural neighbourhoods and some of the most spectacular coastal scenery on earth.

Cape of Good Hope
The dramatic southwestern tip of the African continent, within the Table Mountain National Park. A half-day excursion offering some of the most spectacular coastal scenery in the world.

Cape Town's most photographed neighbourhood — a hillside of brightly painted houses that is home to the Cape Malay community, one of the city's oldest and most culturally distinctive communities.

A deeply moving museum documenting the forced removal of over 60,000 residents during apartheid. One of the most important heritage sites in South Africa.

Recommended Attire
Context
Training sessions
Smart business or casual attire. Cape Town's professional culture is generally smart but relaxed. Venues are air-conditioned in summer — a light layer is advisable for indoor sessions.
City Exploration
Comfortable walking shoes recommended. Light clothing ideal from November through April. A warm layer and waterproof jacket advisable from May through August. Cape Town's wind — known locally as the Cape Doctor — can be strong, particularly on the mountain and along the coast.

GETTING AROUND
Navigating the city
Cape Town is best navigated by taxi or ride-hailing service for most journeys. The MyCiTi bus rapid transit system serves key routes, and the city centre is walkable. Delegates are advised to use established transport services rather than walking in unfamiliar areas after dark.

Taxis & ride-hailing
Uber is the most practical and widely used transport option for delegates in Cape Town. InDrive and Bolt also operate in the city. Metered taxis are available at major hotels and the V&A Waterfront. Ride-hailing is strongly recommended over hailing taxis on the street for unfamiliar visitors.
Airport connections
Cape Town International Airport (CPT) is approximately 20–25 minutes from the city centre by taxi or Uber — one of the most conveniently located international airports on the continent. The MyCiTi bus also connects the airport to the city centre at regular intervals.
MyCiTi bus rapid
transit
Cape Town's modern bus rapid transit system connects the airport, city centre, V&A Waterfront, and key suburban areas. Operates on a prepaid myconnect card system. A practical and affordable option for delegates staying along the main MyCiTi corridors.
Car hire
Recommended for delegates wishing to explore the Cape Peninsula, Cape of Good Hope, the Winelands, or Chapman's Peak independently. All major international hire companies are represented at Cape Town Airport. Driving is on the left-hand side of the road.
Walking
The Cape Town CBD, V&A Waterfront, and the De Waterkant neighbourhood are pleasant and safe to walk during daylight hours. Delegates are advised to remain on well-populated routes and to use ride-hailing services after dark or when travelling to unfamiliar areas.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION
Before you arrive
Key practical details to help delegates from across the GCC, Africa, and Asia prepare for a comfortable and productive visit to Cape Town.
Topic
Information
Currency
South African Rand (ZAR). Card payments are widely accepted in hotels, shopping centres, and most restaurants. Carrying a modest amount of cash is useful for smaller establishments and markets. ATMs are widely available throughout the city.
Time Zone
SAST (UTC+2) year-round — South Africa does not observe daylight saving time. Cape Town is 1 hour behind Riyadh, 2 hours behind Dubai, 1 hour behind Nairobi, and 2 hours ahead of London in winter.
Electricity
Type M plug (three large round pins) is the South African standard, 230V / 50Hz. Type C and N adaptors are also commonly used. Delegates from the GCC, Africa, Europe, and Asia will require a South African travel adaptor. Available at Cape Town Airport and throughout the city.
Halal Dining
Cape Town has an excellent halal food scene, reflecting its significant Muslim community. The Bo-Kaap area is particularly renowned for Cape Malay halal cuisine. Halal-certified options are widely available across the city centre, V&A Waterfront, and most major hotel restaurants.
Places of Worship
Cape Town has one of the oldest Muslim communities in Africa — the Auwal Mosque in Bo-Kaap, built in 1794, is the oldest mosque in South Africa. A Qibla direction indicator is available on request at most international hotels. Muslim delegates are advised that the Muslim Pro app provides accurate prayer times and Qibla direction worldwide. Christian delegates are equally well served, with churches of every denomination across the city, including the historic St George's Cathedral in the CBD.
Language
Arabic is the official language. Egyptian Arabic is the most widely understood dialect across the Arab world. English is widely spoken in hotels, business settings, and tourist areas throughout central Cairo. All training courses are delivered in English.
