Smart business or casual attire. Manchester's professional culture is smart but unpretentious. Venues are well heated throughout the cooler months. A light layer is advisable for moving between buildings.
City exploration
A waterproof jacket or coat is strongly recommended year-round — Manchester's rain is a reliable companion. Comfortable walking shoes are essential. Warm layers advisable from October through April. Manchester is very walkable in the city centre despite the weather.

Navigating the city
Manchester has an excellent and expanding public transport network. The Metrolink tram system is the largest in the UK and covers the city centre and major surrounding areas efficiently. The city centre is very walkable for most training venue and attraction combinations.

The UK's largest light rail network — eight lines connecting Manchester city centre to the airport, Salford Quays, MediaCityUK, and surrounding towns. Runs approximately 06:00 to midnight daily. App ticket or contactless payment is the most convenient option. Clean, reliable, and practical for navigating the greater Manchester area.
Airport connections
Manchester Airport (MAN) is connected to Manchester Piccadilly by the Metrolink tram in approximately 50 minutes. The TransPennine Express rail service also connects to Piccadilly in approximately 20 minutes. Taxis and Uber are available at all terminals.
Rail Connection
Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Victoria are the city's principal railway stations. Direct services connect Manchester to London Euston in approximately 2 hours 10 minutes, and to Edinburgh in approximately 3.5 hours.
Bus network
An extensive bus network covers areas not served by Metrolink. Contactless payment accepted on most services. The Bee Network is progressively improving bus reliability and coverage across the city.
Taxis & ride-hailing
Manchester's black cabs are metered and available throughout the city. Uber and Bolt both operate extensively. Practical for late-night travel, journeys with luggage, or reaching training venues not directly served by Metrolink or bus

British Pound Sterling (GBP) — the same currency as London and Edinburgh. Contactless payments are accepted almost universally. ATMs available at the airport, throughout the city centre, and at both mainline railway stations.

GMT (October-March) and BST / UTC+1 (March-October) — the same time zone as London and Edinburgh. Manchester is 3 hours behind Riyadh, 4 hours behind Dubai, and 3 hours behind Nairobi in winter.
Electricity
Type G plug (three rectangular pins — the same as all of the United Kingdom), 230V / 50Hz. Delegates from the GCC and Asia will require a UK travel adaptor. The same adaptor used in London works throughout Manchester.

The Rusholme area — known as the Curry Mile — is one of the most celebrated concentrations of South Asian and Middle Eastern halal restaurants in the UK. Halal-certified options are widely available throughout the city centre and near all major training venues.
Places of Worship
Manchester has a large Muslim community with numerous mosques throughout the city, including the Manchester Central Mosque on Victoria Park. A Qibla direction indicator is available on request at most international hotels. Muslim delegates are advised that the Muslim Pro app provides accurate prayer times and Qibla direction worldwide. Christian delegates are very well served — Manchester has hundreds of churches of every denomination, including Manchester Cathedral in the city centre.
